LockFile is an easy to use file encryption program. All information is encrypted using Blowfish encryption.
You can find out more about this algorithm on the Internet, just search for Blowfish and/or cryptography. See readme.txt file which is included with zip for more information.
You can drag and drop one file at a time currently into the main window. All files except for .lok files will be encrypted, and all files with .lok
extension will be decryted.
Features of LockFile 0.3c:
· Encrypting Files - This will "encrypt" your file using a chosen password so that it cannot be read by others. Click Encrypt to begin. You will first select the file you want to encrypt, then you will select the file which will contain the encrypted data. After this you will enter a password to encrypt your file. If you lose it, you file is history. There is no way to recover it except to try and guess all your possible passwords.
· Decrypting Files - After encrypting a file, you can decrypt it to restore the file to its natural state. You will need the encrypting password to decrypt the file. Click Decrypt to begin, then select the Encrypted file. After entering the password, your file will be decrypted. If you enter an incorrect password, your decrypted file will be nothing but junk.
· Shread File - This function simply erases your file by setting all of the data inside of the file to NULLs (or 0, hex 00). If you just tried to delete your file, its contents still exist on your hard drive, or media until you either defrag your hard drive or you store more data and it gets overwritten. By shredding your file first, you ensure that the entire contents are erased so that it is impossible to recover.
· Creating Passwords - You should always create a long password. The longer the password, the harder it would be to randomly guess your password using a brute force guessing method. Currently, password can only be 64 characters long.
