Features of PowerCrypt 4.4 :
· uses a high security encryption algorith: when you choose your password you are informed about seurity level of the encryption. Passwords longer than 20 characters, your files will be 100% secured.
· You can send your encrypted files to the Windows Clipboard and paste them into other text applications. They are encoded in text format for easy porting.
· Keep safe your passwords, they are the unique keys to encrypted files. Remember that PowerCrypt distingush between capital and non capital letters, so "Password" is not same as "password".
· Never use familiar names as passwords (for ex. your child's name or your telephone number): they are the first thing that hackers try!
PowerCrypt has two file extensions: .CRY is used for single encrypted files, .PAK is used for packages (more .cry files packed in a single .pak file). PowerCrypt can build packages with encrypted files putting more .CRY files in a single .PAK file.
· Stay informed about system status. Press F8 (or chose the "Tools - Show system status") to get information about available resources as physical and virtual memory.
· You can encrypt (or decrypt) text in three easy steps: 1) paste text from Clipboard; 2) encypt it with a password (or decrypt it if it was encrypted text); 3) copy back to the Clipboard.
· PowerCrypt has a full network support. If you have access to a network resource with read/write permissions, you can use it as a local folder.
· When PowerCrypt encrypts, it compress your files so they will use less disk space. Depending of file type, compression ratio is between 10% and 70%!
· PowerCrypt has a secure email send support. Click on the button in the righ-upper corner to open the email-composer window or select, in the first panel, one or more encrypted files and send them as attach.
What's new:
· Winsows Scripting Host runtime no more needed, uses its own file-system routines. Deep Encrypt/Decrypt feature: user can perform actions on files contained in subfolders recursively. A PowerUpdate feature added (similar with LiveUpdate)
· filename encoding features (best privacy, more security from indiscrete eyes), centralized option control system (one dialog box insted of many menus), some bugfixes and small interface changes.
