Features of TrueCrypt 5.1 :
· It can create a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mount it as a real disk.
· It can encrypt an entire hard disk partition or a device, such as USB memory stick, floppy disk, etc.
· Encryption is automatic, real-time (on-the-fly) and transparent.
· Provides two levels of plausible deniability, in case an adversary forces you to reveal the password:
1) Hidden volume (more information may be found here).
2) No TrueCrypt volume can be identified (TrueCrypt volumes cannot be distinguished from random data).
· Encryption algorithms: AES-256, Serpent, and Twofish. Mode of operation: XTS.
Important Note: Public Key
This key can be used to verify the authenticity of the TrueCrypt binary and source code distribution archives. Links to public-keyencryption software that can be used to verify digital signatures may be found here.

What's New in TrueCrypt 5.0 :
• New features:
· Ability to encrypt a system partition/drive (i.e. a partition/drive where Windows is installed) with pre-boot authentication (anyone who wants to gain access and use the system, read and write files, etc., needs to enter the correct password each time before the system starts). For more information, see the chapter System Encryption in the documentation. (Windows Vista/XP/2003)
· Pipelined operations increasing read/write speed by up to 100%
• Improvements, bug fixes, and security enhancements:
· The Linux version of TrueCrypt has been redesigned so that it will no longer be affected by changes to the Linux kernel (kernel upgrades/updates).
· Many other minor improvements, bug fixes, and security enhancements. (Windows and Linux)
If you are using an older version of TrueCrypt, it is strongly recommended that you upgrade to this version.
