Have had AVG Free for a long time. Not too much trouble until I got AVG 10 - 2011 version.

As someone else said, its ALWAYS running something in the background and sometimes I have to just pull the plug and start over - so frustrating.

Now its telling me I have to update to 2013 and Im totally scared to or the computer might quit entirely. There must be a better way...

I have tested AVG9 on my amd64x with 4gb and it slowed it to a crawl the hdd was accessed all the time by avgsa.exe reinstalled 8.5 and very fast again. So tried on my other desktop with xp same thing. i have now tested it on Vista And win7 works fine on these oss so if you have xp id stay clear of Ver 9 I am currently testing fprot and avast.

I had AVG Free 8.100 for quite a while and it worked okay. Then suddenly almost everytime I tried to send an email with Outlook it refused to send it and brought up an error message. I then got rid of it and installed AVG 9 thinking this problem would not recur. Unfortunately it still does and it has also slowed down my internet access.

I think all the guys who think AVG 9.0 is best are probably work for AVG.

I was using AVG 8.5, then as soon as I updated to version 9.0, the whole system slow down. It seems AVG 9.0 always running something behind the scene. I check their forum and found a lots of people have similar problems with AVG 9.0.
AVG seems to think its not their problem, they must think were punch of dummies.

Virus has no specific definition types. But the Antivirus has opposite characteristic. So sometimes it is obsolete or virus itself for OS. Especially the higher order antivirus creates more problem for both user PC. I have been using AVG along with Avira for my home PCP4 and Office. Since puchasing avg 8 I have had nothing but problems.All the time up comes a box firewall profile switch a new or unassigned network was detected.choose the desired Firewall Profile
1.allow all
2.block all
3.standalone computer
4.small office or home comuter
then 2 more boxes
at last
assign profile or without profile.
I am not a computer wizard,do not understand computer language,since installing I am now being told windows is no longer providing I have received an e-mail from avg saying they are looking into my problem and no reply as yet.I am so angry that I have paid for this program which has ruined my use of my computer.I wish I had stayed with the free edition,it was easy to use and did a very good job.I want to re-install the free avg but cannot find it! Please somebody help.
